BUCKS COUNTY, PA, USA - CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHY: On a beautiful sunny day in the suburbs, every street corner and development entrance road is blocked by the Mommy (& Daddy) Squad in their SUVs waiting for children to get off school buses? I live in a small development of 60 homes on 6 cul-de-sacs in central Bucks County, Pennsylvania; but, this phenomena takes place in suburbia all over the USA. These children SHOULD be walking from the bus stop to their homes on their own? BUT, instead, mommies (and daddies) are lining up their vehicles on both sides of these streets blocking traffic while awaiting the buses? We have become such a nation of wusses and whiners.
Children are no less safe, today, than they have been for 100 years. In fact, they are much safer, statistically, than they were in the 1970's. And, most child abduction are conducted by family members and close friends as opposed to "nutters" lurking around bus stops. Parents are way to over-protective, paranoid. Children NEED to be TAUGHT to be careful and then left on their own as much as possible. Teach them and then let them live, deal with, life. When they are 25, they can't be running to Mama exery time someone says "BOO!" They need to learn this slowly now while they are young. Unfortunately, that is the type of generations we have been raising for many years, now.
The modern, sensation-loving news media is partly to blame for this paranoia. Fifty years ago, Philadelphia news rarely reported any incidents as close as New York, let alone Los Angeles. Today, a kidnapping in LA is "news" on the East Coast, too. IT SHOULD NOT BE. There is no reason for this type of stuff to be reported outside the local area UNLESS the suspected kidnapper has bonafide ties to another area AND it is strongly suspected that he/she may be headed there. Otherwise, it is LOCAL NEWS and should stay LOCAL NEWS!

They Can't Just Keep Raising The Price
UNITED STATES - We all know that our income comes from monies paid to our employers for their products and services. This means that the economy, in many ways, is a giant spiral or pyramid. Government is paid for by the shrinking workforce in the private sector.
Unfortunately, politicians (and others) have been feeding at the public trough so long that they forget, while taxes are taken out of their paychecks, they don't really pay those taxes, they just recycle our (private sector) dollars. Thats right, presidents, congressmen, senators, mayors, assemblymen, public school teachers, etc., etc, etc. You may feel the tax bite but every one of your dollars, tax or otherwise is coming out of our pocket.
The new Congress (and the lame-duck one) must make private sector job growth their NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. And, they CANNOT DO IT by spending more tax dollars. They must do it by repealing, changing or create legislation (in that order.)
When will it sink in? If you keep spending my money, increasing the burden of government on individuals and business, you, all government as well as Congress, are just forcing us into bankruptcy.
You can't just keep raising the price because sooner or later there will be nothing left to pay you and nobody left to pay it anyway.

Yesterday - November 2, 2010
UNITED STATES, 03 Nov 2010 - I have spent the day listening to so many political pundits try to explain what happened yesterday. Why did the Democrats lose control of the House? Why didn't the Republicans gain control of the Senate? In my opinion, the answers are much simpler than anything I have heard.
The answer to the first question is "Nancy Pelosi." The American people need a face, a personality to blame. Speaker Pelosi's eagerness to be in the spotlight, to get the last word, to show off her incredible arrogance, to exhibit her lust for power, put her face on the entire House. That inflamed the electorate into action.
The answer to the second question is somewhat converse. Harry Reid, while equally despicable, kept a much lower profile and didn't become the face and personality of the Senate. Therefore, while the Senate elections felt a "coat tail" effect, it did not get the same level of attention from the electorate.
